ECCC annual meeting

Hi guys,

So the ECCC is apparently having their annual meeting to discuss rules, where the races will be etc. Is anyone thinking about going? It is a good way to network/get cheap housing for races/vote for northerly races that aren’t 8 hours away by car.

Here is the email:Beloved ECCC -

[NOTE: HOT NEW LOCATION FOR 2008!]

10:00 Team Building Meeting

Make your team ROCK! What are the secrets of other team leaders to
build their teams, keep students interested and improve themselves year
after year? The answers lie with your peers - the experienced student
leaders of the ECCC. This could the most valuable hour of the entire
collegiate cycling year!

This portion of the meeting will be run by your ECCC contemporaries and
feature spirited discussions among all team leaders on how they start
and run their teams, recruit and retain members, and establish
themselves for success both on and off the bike.

ECCC Discussion points

There are a number of exciting concepts and other issues to address, so
please discuss the following among your teams prior to the meeting. To
keep the discussion to a reasonable amount of time, feel free to
pre-discuss issues on the ECCC listserv (eccc_-@topica.com). These
issues include the following (please email me your proposed discussion
points):

  • ECCC annual team rankings (MTB + CX + Road + Track): yes/no, how to
    compute?
  • Revisit team scoring: revisit “team points by race” or “winner take
    all” approach?
  • TTT scoring: 2nd/3rd, 2nd/2nd or 3rd/3rd wheel? By gender or by
    category?
  • Race promotion incentives (and team penalties) to avoid
    non-weather-related event cancellation.

Break for lunch

A chance to network with other team leaders, talk about your teams and
generate great ideas for the 2008 road schedule. And, of course, chow
down on some fantastic food provided by the ECCC! Plus we get to play
around with all the fancy machines and computers in Bard’s new center.

2008 Road Season Scheduling

This year, it’s time for our promoters to “go big” and build on our
already great events while supporting our enthusiastic new promoters.
This will require great new ideas, a fresh perspective, and alliances
among every team in your region to assemble the finest calendar of
cycling events in the country. We have an opportunity to introduce
Collegiate Cycling and this lifetime sport to many more people and make
it even more fun. We know that our awesome promoters are up for the
hard work and creativity; you should all challenge each other to step it
up.

Another email shall review the details of the scheduling process and
promoter requirements. Weekends: March 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, 29-30,
April 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, 26-27. As usual, there are more proposed race
weekends than available weekends, so get ready to work together towards
a great schedule!

See you all in a few weeks!

Thanks,
Mark Abramson
