Hello McGill Cycling and welcome back for a new school year! I’m really looking forward to my last year in Montreal and I’m confidant that McGill Cycling will be even bigger, better, and more fun than in the past. The exec has lots of plans for this year, in particular centered around a renewed emphasis on the social aspect of the club, getting more people racing, and continuing the excellent training camps and programs that we offer. If you’re a potential new member reading this, be sure to check out the FAQ to learn more about what we have to offer you.
Membership registration will work much the same way this year as it has in the past. To join McGill Cycling for 2013-2014, just do the following 3 things:

Just like last year, there are two levels of membership this year: the $40 club membership and the $100 team membership. The Club membership gives you access to all our rides and winter training, our super awesome cycling clothes at cost, and our discount at the Cycle Neron bike shop and on WMD wheels. The team membership includes all of that, but also allows you to race with us - because of our sponsors, we are often able to at least partially sponsor transportation, travel, and race fees, so the increased team fee will certainly save you money over any other way to race your bike. The team training camp down in South Carolina during the winter reading week is also only open to team members. This year, there will be a late fee of $20 for anybody who joins the team after September 30th
As a head’s up, our weekly rides will be starting either the first or second week of school, and there are several events in the planning stage for September, including training weekends, a large get-together, and the annual MCT time-trial/hill-climb at the end of the month. Keep an eye on the forum and Like us on Facebook if you haven’t already. Look forward to seeing and meeting you all on the road!
Yes there is! We’re working out details right now but were looking at having an introduction meeting the second week of school. We’ll keep you all updated.
Its actually a good question that gets asked repeatedly every year.
The team/club does not have any extra bikes they can provide.
We do however get decent deals through sponsors if you are looking to buy a new bike.
How much laughing is permitted at kids with bad bikes (ie. Me). I’d like to try some beginner rides this semester, don’t have the money for a nice road bike so I’ll be on an old raleigh 10 speed.
Most of the weekly rides are starting next week, though we’re doing a warm-up KOM/QOM this thursday which you should definitely come to.
You can pay at any of the weekly rides except the women’s ride by handing it to one of the exec members. McGill Cycling clothing is ordered once a year around the beginning of october; we don’t have details yet but we’ll keep you all up to date.
I just saw your post. And it was an eaaarly ride. I will definitely try to make it to the next race. Is there a lot of new/beginners and in the club this year ?
