I’ve been told that if there is one race I should enter this summer, is it happening in Ottawa. Does anyone know the details (name of race, date, etc) so I can pencil it into my daybook?
…they may mean the Ottawa Bicycle Club Grand Prix in Gatineau Park
“Saturday July 18th 2009 - Details to follow” is sadly all the info they have on their site right now, but its a fantastic, challenging and sceanic race. I will be going (and squeak looking for a lift there too… ) Well worth it…
cheers

Thanks for the link!
Last year i went and appart from being a logistic nightmare, it was one of my two star races in the season. I’ll be going back this year for sure.
Super! It sounds like a number of us are planning to go, so closer to the date I can start organising rides and such. I’ll probably rent a car and bring the family.
@Jonathan - you have a two star rating system?
no, lol, star as “rock star” race. The ones that shine from above kind! That one and Laval-Ste-Agathe classic.
sheesh, tough crowd.
to regale yourself with the exact same info i posted - only in aqua coloured font, for Captain Cleverboots:
Sorry, no sarcasm was intended! I meant to say thanks for the info. Seriously.
I’ve started looking into the logistics of this race and want to know what the plans are of others who are going. I plan on renting a car and staying at a hotel the friday night with my wife, her sister and Petey. Then we would drive to the race, cycle like a madman, then return to Montreal that evening.
Some questions:
- How do people plan on transporting their bikes? If someone has a bike rack, could I borrow it, or throw my bike on it?
- For those who have done this in the past, is there a recommended hotel to stay at?
Thanks!
I have no car, no bike rack, no redeeming qualities. That being said, are there people going with room for one more?
I have a rack you can borrow - I’d be interested in racing too in theory.
I think you can get discounts at the race hotel (see the race website.)
Im going to this race aswell…but im driving from toronto…Ill see you guys there
i also need a lift for me and my bike to the Ottawa GP, and I also have no redeemign qualities other than i promise not to smell and i make bad puns? (coudl be good or bad, that)
cheers and warm-hearted pleeding!

The story so far:
I’ve rented a car from the 17th to the 18th, which will transport myself, the missus and the junior. This leaves room for two more people. We’ll be driving down at 3pm on friday and staying at the Quality hotel downtown, then driving to the race saturday morning and returning to montreal saturday afternoon.
@Jason_L unless someone is bringing a van and can haul my bike, think I could borrow your bike rack? The vehicle is a toyota yaris if that matters.
PeteW PeteW PeteW!
can i snag that spot in yer car? pleeeeeeeeeease
the timing is perfect
Pete, may I also join your car (I’ll bring you Basha).
the bike rack might be iffy on a hatch-back - its been done before with two road bikes though sans incident though.
You’ll have to get it from me ASAP though, I’m leaving for russia on the 17th.
The yaris has a small trunk. When/where is a good place to pick up the bike rack, Jason?
Adam & DeRosa, as long as you don’t mind riding with a baby, you can consider your seats reserved.
At my house in LaSalle, I won’t have time to bring it downtown I don’t think. Man, could I have used the word though more in that post?
