Thanks for coming everyone and bringing so much delicious food (with the exception of Dennis who just eats other peoples food). Hopefully one of the sports channels will be broadcasting the World Championships RR and we can do this again!
Awesome times with bike riders that dont ride bikes!
Dennis showing off his peak power.
…and Jons rolls…mmmmm
and Eric’s current lemon rolls were pretty great too
Chain didn’t know watt hit it
Yah, Dennis, on your 5km flat ride in full kit with aero helmet =P Chain broke doing ZERO watts.
(you as an engineer should know this, gosh, no wonder our infrastructures are falling apart):
P = F.V ==> P = 0 during a track stand.
It was a blast though, thanks Phil!
Hey, I looked GOOD on my ride over and I will not apologize for that!
And thanks for holding me to a higher level of joke making Jon, but of course my chain didn’t break during a track stand but a track START (unsure if that was a typo or not).
A chain doesn’t break under power (watts), it breaks under LOAD (newtons, pounds, other units of force), which are two entirely different things. During a track start, a rider is clearly not putting out their peak power (since the circumferential velocity of their pedals is essentially zero), however it is the moment in ALL of cycling where a rider applies the greatest LOAD (force) to the pedals, just the condition that makes it likely for a chain to break. If you don’t believe me take it up with Andrew Coggan.
Watt jokes are easier to make than Force jokes though!!!
At the right moment, torque jokes are pretty funny.
I just died pete
So you’re saying you dropped a huge load on your bike Dennis?
Classy, mike.
