Hey,

I have to confirm that i can trade shifts with a colleague in which case i’d finish at 5, but i’d love to go again, last one was real good.
What day is this going to be?
I say we bike there again. This time over the bridge…
Have you guys biked it before? I would totally be game for that but I was told that it is pretty dark when it finishes…Let me know if it is doable and I will give it a go.
It’s on thursday july 3rd. The race starts at 7pm, and registration ends at 6:45. We’ve biked it last time but had a lift back.
yeah, we would definitely need some lights to bike back. Not impossible, but it would be a little annoying.
Hey
sorry guys I won’t make it this week. But have fun and represent McGill well.
Seb
I’ll be there lift or no lift, but crossing Mercier on a bike is suicidal. Been there.
Anybody here can explain how to take the Ice Breaker bridge from Montreal? I’m looking at maps and it looks like the only way to get to Nunn’s Island are the 15/20 bridges… Very confused…
Thanks
I was about to say I’d join you guys biking out there but I think I chicken because of the rain.
I know two ways to the ice breaker bridge: via Attwater or via Wellington. I think the second is the easier one to explain:
• From McGill go westbound on Sherbrooke take a left on de la Montagne
• at the very end of the street take a right on Wellington
• after the second train overpass take a left on Henri-Duhamel (I believe)
• at the end the street take a left onto the bike path and follow it. It’ll take you over a bridge alongside the highway onto Ile des Soeurs.
• At the roundabout take the third exit on Place du Commerce
• at the end of the street left on Boulevard René Lévesque
• After the car dealership take a right on the path that leads you to the ice breaker bridge.
Hey,
it looks to me that taking the ice breaker bridge will turn the trip from ~25km into 45+km. That is a long way to ride to and from a race when it doesn’t end till 9 or so.
Is it possible to take a bus home? At 9pm they might not care if we have bikes??
Is anyone going? The rain is supposed to clear this afternoon
I’m going for sure. Sometimes it’s possible to find lifts on the way back… No way I’m taking the Mercier bridge again. It’s death-defying. Last time my chain dropped going onto the bridge inside a curve on the 20  . Had to get off my bike 2 inches from speeding cars. Never again.
Ok got my way all figured out thanks to AJ. I can be at McGill around 5pm if anybody wants to join… Only thing is I’m leaving work at 4pm so let me know quick quick quick!
I am still debating whether I should come along to see you guys race … so, I just mapped it out and I found that it would be 30,2km vs. 43,5km. I mean, for me who is certainly not going to race the choice would be clear but for you guys … I can see that 13k make a difference if you race afterwards. On the other hand, if we/you end up biking home, I would strongly suggest to take the slightly longer but certainly safer way.
When would you have to leave? 4:30pm?
Norm, could you give me your cellphone number so I can let you know whether I’ll go or not?
I think I will have to miss this one unfortunately so don’t wait around for me Norm.
Tom, are your mice still alive???
Norm, I’m sorry but I won’t come along. Another time.
Hahahah I have 125kms on my odo, but I still did good in the race. Luckily, I got a ride to Montreal on the way back. Had a crazy face wind on the Estacade and then again on the 132/138 until it turns South. Could have used some buddies there!
I was quite an adventure!
I probably wasn’t too far behind… Until i took the wrong turn and only realized once i got back to mercier bridge. All in all, it was a great itt, but i completely missed the race.
Aw that blows!
