Velogames Giro!

starting a betting pool for how many times dennis will complain about how velogames grand tours are dumb and velogames spring classics are way better

over nine thousand

Now Rodriguez is out. I should have known, given how many times he fell during the classics this year. Ah well.

I didn’t pick him cuz I thought he was going to dissapoint, but I’m finding myself big time rooting for Cadel now. BMC doing an impressive job putting him at the front of the bunch at important moments.

Also, Bouhani looks scary

Cadel still might turn into a sack of bricks, we haven’t even his any real stages yet.

Seems like Arredondo’s crash/time lose might be a blessing.

Now can go for KOM and stage wins. Mucho points.

Kiserlovski comes alive!

This is how I imagine everyone but Pete, Dennis, Andrew and myself

Yup

Vince is giving me a run for my money

I can’t believe I’ve been at 1000 points for like 4 days now… BULLSHIT!

Okay crew, time to stir the pot!

I’ve already praised Gallai for what I thought was a very well picked team (although cunego pick might turn out to be a bust), but another amongst us needs some kudos…

Currently at the top of our leaderboard, he’s a bit of a perennial fantasy contender, Coach P!

Although unlike Gallai he’s suffered a blow to his main GC pick Jrod, he’s been picking up plenty of points in the uphill finishes due to the inclusion of two strategic 8 pointers: Kelderman and Kiserlovski.

Personally, I liked the value of both these guys but didn’t have the confidence to pick them. Looks like it’s working out, chapeau!

Additionally, Pete has superstar Ulissi, the must have bargain of the Giro; Pozzovivo, see earlier discussion on POZZ above; and Uran, who hasn’t done anything flashy but has been similar to Cadel in that he’s been scoring points by virtue of a high GC placing very early on. Uran also looks poised for a serious shot at the podium.

Who will win this battle atop the leaderboard? I think it all comes down to the performance of Nairo Quintana, currently owned by Gallai but not by Pete. If Quintana continues to perform at the same level as Wilco and Kiser, then the advantage slides to Pete. It Quintana come alive in the final week and take a couple stages on his way to the GC win, Gallai will be ringing the victory bells.

Or, are my speculations too early and will another team rise up to steal the spotlight? With a line up which includes Uran, Kelderman, Quintana, Pozzovivo, Bouhanni and a promision Fabio Aru, a certain Philippe Tremblay might be eating watermelon and laughing as he not only snuffs everyone else out of a podium position, but challenges for the win.

How is he not at the top with that line up? See previous discussion of Diego Ulissi ownership and noob-age. Additionally, he’s included two garbage picks which will surely never score any substantial points in Mikel Landa and Riccardo Zoidl. Who are they? Exactly.

Dennis, flattery will get you everywhere. Thanks for the kudos!
I agree, the performance of Quintana will be the linchpin in this contest. Another undervalued rider is Michael Matthews, who is showing that he is not just another one-hit-wonder.

Landa? You mean this guy?

Matthews will not start stage 11…also Landa see Trentino stage win and tell me you don’t want that on your team come week 3.

Oh, sorry, I didn’t realize that stage wins in the Giro del Trentino counted for the Giro d’Italia as well!

He got away early on the climb cuz he’s a nobody and managed take the win. Big deal. He’s going to be relegated to bottle and pace setting duty for Aru in the third week anyways.

As for Matthews, he’s just twisting the dagger into what is my already desimated fantasy team. But hey, at least I picked Ulissi

Matthews :frowning:

usually the strategy i use for selecting fantasy cycling members is looking for ex-euskatel riders since that team was great
