2012 MEMBERSHIP! New and old members read this

Hello everyone and welcome back for the best year ever of McGill Cycling! We have some awesome things in the planning stage for the year, and I look forward to seeing you all on the road.

This year we will be a bit more organized with membership than we have in the past. To join McGill Cycling for 2012-2013, just do the following 3 things:
[] Create an account on this forum (if you don’t already have one)
[
] Submit this form

Submit a check made out to McGill Cycling(or an envelope of cash with your name on it) to any executive members. Alternatively, pay via Paypal by clicking on the Donate tab above, adding a 3% surcharge because that’s what paypal passes on to us.
There are two levels of membership this year: the $40 club membership and the $100 team membership. The Club membership gives you access to all our rides and winter training, our super awesome cycling clothes, and our discount at the Cycle Neron bike shop and on WMD wheels. The team membership includes all of that, but also allows you to race with us - because of our sponsors, we are often able to at least partially sponsor transportation, travel, and race fees, so the increased team fee will certainly save you money over any other way to race your bike. The team training camp down south during the winter reading week is also only open to team members. This year, there will be a late fee of $20 for anybody who joins the team after September 30th

The easiest way to submit a check is at one of our indoor training events. Check out the cross-training forum section for more info.

If you want to race with us you need at least one of our jerseys. Unfortunately the fall clothing order has already been placed and should be arriving soon. At that point we will have some extras available for purchase, and there MAY be another order being placed in the spring.

Super excited to meet all our new members and get some good riding in!

EDITED Nov 20th for latecomers.

Just reminding everybody that the membership fees go up by $20 at the end of september. If you’re going to join this year it is in your best interest to do so soon!

Hey I just notice a lot of posts (just looked a the rides posts for the last couple of weeks…oups!)
so ok i got a bunch of questions. I will get a check for the mcgill membership on thursday. I need a jersey that FITS!!! haha did I miss the order?

computrainer: how does it work? we dont have to bring our bikes!? is it spinning or computrainer…i thought computrainer was like a home trainer…that we use with our own bike? we pay the entire amount at the beggining?

gym : how does it work at McGill… there are 2 gym? we have access to varsity weight room?! at what price? where is it? i also saw on mcgill website that we need a membership for the fitness room if we want to go there too…why would i want to go there if we access the varsity weight room? What equipement do they have in varisity room? is there at least a few spinner for warm-up and cool own?

am i missing anything else about training?
thank you very much!!

I already liked mcgill cycling on facebook im not too bad

 1. You did not miss the jersey order, but you did miss the fitting sessions - sizing is pretty much the same as last year though, so it shouldn’t be that big a deal. Info on the Jersey ordering was just posted today, you can see the thread here.

 2. Training at toguri: you do not have to bring your own bike, they have adjustable bikes attached to the computrainers (he’ll probably have you bring the measurements from your own bike so it feels exactly the same). I’m quite sure the entire amount is payed up front for the ten -class session.

 3. Winter training: we do not technically have access to the varsity weight room. A little birdy tells me we might use it sometimes anyhow, but don’t count on it. There is an additional fee to get into the fitness center if you want to do weights or spin by yourself, but you can get into our spin classes and plyometrics for free.
