Another business venture begging for "likes", except this is one is mine

Hello Cyclists (and forum creepers in China):

As some of you may know, I have recently launched a new business venture here in Montreal, The Bike Tent. It is a mobile bike shop, housed in a 10’ by 20’ tent, and currently is semi-permanently located in Verdun, on the way to the Escatade. This summer we also have a roving tent in the Ottawa area, and in mid-june will have a second semi-permanent location in the East End at a community garden. In an effort to keep up with modern business practices, I have created a Facebook page to attract customers, inform them about deals, and shamelessly mine their data and sell it to the highest bidder.

I ask everyone, with all the humility I can muster, to please “like” my new Facebook page and make it look like stuff is happening. Our spring promotions are ramping up, and I would prefer not to direct potential new clients to the Facebook equivalent of a dusty auditorium with crickets chirping. If you have friends who might also be interested in receiving special discounts this spring, please have them like the page as well. Bonus points (and bonus discounts!) for relevant wall posts/photo uploads of bike stuff/bike mechanical stuff, bike mechanical questions, etc.

So to reiterate: please go to www.facebook.com/the.bike.tent and like my page to receive 10% off a quick tuneup OR a complete tuneup with wheel alignment, as well as 15% off any lights and helmets.

Any comments or suggestions for my facebook page or my business practices in general are welcome. I’m a newbie at this, and I didn’t go to business school.

Thank you all very much.

Ben

Thank you alex! You win the “first liked” prize! I’m impressed with your speed.

This is awesome! Can you guys do drivetrain cleaning?

of course. we do everything. Except maybe suspension rebuilds.

I’ll probably stop by then. What are the hours of operation during the week?

edit: I’d suggest adding that to the facebook page

we’re planning on opening next weekend. I haven’t added the hours yet because we don’t have hours yet. Also, it is TBD if we will be open 7 days a week, though that is the plan. We just need to have a steady supply of mechanical talent. (We are still, by the way, looking for mechanical talent. If anyone knows of any, or is a mechanical talent themselves, please don’t hesitate to get me on the horn).

Nice idea! Have you tried to get a permit for operating along the lachine canal? Killing to be made there between Atwater and the old Port. The permanent seasonal shop at Atwater seems to do respectably well for itself.

I’d join your facebook bandwagon but I’ve gone all Luddite vis a vis social media.

I am looking into that, yes. Its complicated, as you might imagine.
