Fabian was telling off JV for having Thor suck on his wheel all day and the negative racing on behalf of Garmin towards him, trying to shut down every move he made and not contribute to the chase.
Thor did nothing wrong certainly with JvS up the road, but Fabian felt otherwise out of frustration, eventually sitting up, saying to Thor, “I don’t care if we both lose as long as I don’t bring you to the line and you out-sprint me”. Fabian needed a few teammates to chase down the break, then launch one of his trademark attacks some 20km out. Leopard is not a strong enough team for the classics, they weren’t there to help him, and it is very hard for one man to fight off an entire troupe of garmin guys

Fabian was just complaining that his Leopard team sucked. If JV offered him a spot on his team for next year he would continue to ride otherwise … he would not ride and let JvS win?
