I hereby proclaim the first (very) unofficial McGill cycling team mini-training camp of this school year! Here are the details:
Dates: the weekend of 11th-12th of August. I’d like to leave on friday the 10th but that’s up for debate.
Location: Charlevoix (about an hour’s drive past Quebec city, so 3.5-4hrs total)
Shelter: Le Balcon Vert (http://balconvert.com/). Beautiful site with a nice fire pit overlooking the city of Baie-St-Paul. Roughly $20 per person per night for a bed in a little cabin. (Disclaimer: it will likely be co-ed sleeping arrangements… yesss…)
Riding: seeing as this is the cycling team we should probably get on our bikes a bit. I’m thinking 100-150km rides on saturday and sunday. Very challenging and scenic terrain. Groups can be formed if necessary
Intoxication and debauchery: likely.
Baby oil?: recommended
Hairy legs: definitely not.
If you’re planning on coming in order to pound everyone in the hills and be all serious and shit then please do not come. If you like having a good time and riding your bike (NO MATTER WHAT SKILL LEVEL), let’s do it!
Please let me know if you’re in or if you want more details.
Yes, the hills there ARE insane which is exactly why we want to go! And if you haven’t been there and seen them yet then you should deffinately come. It would be great to have some newbies come out before the year really gets under way and I think you will be happier knowing some people well once the school year starts.
From my own experience it was the trips like this that really made me love this team and get to know people the best. So please come along.
Everyone climbs at a different pace so we will NOT be racing or trying to see who climbs the fastest. With 2 long days of riding we just want to get some mileage in and enjoy some of the best riding in the Province.
and I can use my parents’ Honda van…so I can bring a couple ppl with me! (with all the bikes and stuff, I’d say there’s space for 2-3 of you)
peace
Gab
Thanks for forgetting about me Nic. Now I know how Dan R must have felt. haha
I am making the reservation and so this is last call to everyone to sign up NOW!
Usually Mike or I do most of the organizing/booking and Peter and I seem to be the ones with the CC’s (but since Peter will be around less I guess that means more points for me!).
We usually meet at the Roddick gates because it’s a pretty well known and central location for everyone.
We will finalize the departure time later this week (Mike is comming into town this Wednesday so we will see what is good for him) but it will be late afternoon on Friday (b/w 3-5 I think).
