Contrecoeur & Ste Martine (21st and 28th)

Hey everyone!

The first two races of the Quebec calendar are just around the corener! Every year we encourage as many of our members to participate in these two events since:

1.) Everyone is still in Montreal / at school
2.) The races are in Montreal, where our sponsors are located
3.) They’re short day trips and a great way to get some racing in!

I’ve really enjoyed both these races in the past, and it would be a lot of fun to get big groups of McGill cyclists flooding the peloton’s!

There are three categories we can race in:

1.) Senior 1-2 (a few advanced riders take this on)
2.) Senior 3 (most of our intermediate men race in this category)
3.) Women’s (one group for all categories of women, lot’s of fun!)

I’m going to make individual posts for each of these events as they get closer, but I wanted to advertise early and get a sense of numbers. Sign up if you’re interested!!

where can one find the courses to these races?

Unfortunetly they don’t appear to be up yet…

They’re both essentially the same thing: a ~10km loop / rectangle on very flat farm lands. Fairly decent pavement

Senior 1-2: 10laps for roughly 100km
Senior 3: 8 laps for roughly 80km
Women: 8 laps (I believe) for roughly 80km

i’ll try not to get disqualified this time

Last year’s course for Ste-Martine: http://www.viaexplora.com/app/iframe.html?membre=FQSC&parcours=GP_Ste-Martine&href=!&force=1&attraits=&router=Google&zoom=9&lat=45.6&lng=-73.5&fin=GP_Ste-Martine, it’s always roughly the same. Flat as a pancake with 1000.51 km/h cross winds on the long section along the river and 1019km/h head winds on the next short section, and then the cross winds again on the long stretch, and finally you fly over the last section in front of the finish at around 60km/h.

Contrecoeur has two hills. They’re the overpasses over the 30.

just so you guys are all aware, St-Martine is windy as F@#$%! It would be advisable to bring your A-game in drafting as there will be a lot of guttering going on.

@Philippe, make sure to do it downwind.

did anybody get their license yet? i ordered mine feb 1st

Same here, no licence.

I got mine in the mail on Monday–I ordered mine in early March.

I can’t even order yet 'cause the online registration has been down for 2+ weeks!

I ordered mid March, hasn’t arrived yet. Very typical Fqsc.

Guess I’ll be bringing a printed receipt for it. I hope that’s okay!
