I know this is last minute but I’m wondering if anyone living on the island would have the necessary tools and time (after 13h) tomorrow to help me get rid of a creaking crank problem (could probably be BB also). All parts original Cannondale CAAD10. Would pay for your time and parts if needed. Please contact me if this is something you can do.
Yeah, went there today. They are so busy (just like all the other shops everywhere) that the earliest I would get the bike back fixed is Thursday so trying to prevent that by doing the work myself but don’t have access to the the tools and maintenance knowledge needed.
Have you just washed out the bearing interfaces? Sometimes it’s just a bit of crud in there making the creak. Get a hose with a good pressure head/nozzle and blast it (no, it won’t leak into your bearings).
Otherwise I’d just double check it’s torqued to spec, I’ve got a wrench an everything if you want to swing by.
Honestly, it’s more of a cosmetic thing (unless it’s creaking so loud it sounds like the world is coming to an end).
quoted so i can immortalize how un-pro that was[/quote]
Pfffttt… =P
All this external cartridge bearing stuff is notoriously bad for creaking. FSA cranks are the worst and the campy crank mounted ones are pretty bad too.
It’s getting pretty loud now and I’ve been using the high water pressure machine to wash the bike after long and dirty rides but it’s only getting worse. Can you DM me your address and you availability today?
my bb shell/insert came unbound from the frame and it’s creaking like mad. I dunno if that applies to the alloy caad10 but check for cracks between the insert and the frame. Mine can’t be fixed .

If you’re using a pressure washer on a high pressure, you could have actually blown crap in past the seals.

Yeah I always try to be careful when washing that area but could probably have happened. A bike shop tightened the crankset this afternoon when I stopped there for a tire and tube problem so that fixed the creaking sound. Thanks for offering the maintenance advice.
