Getting a head start on this one so we can get a good crew going
This is one of the best race weekends of the ECCC, and also our closest. There’s a cool (and short) ITT, a fast crit on frat row, and then a rolly TTT ad road course in VT on Sunday.
We also get to stay at Pete’s favorite hotel in the whole entire world that has popcorn and waffles, and then my house the next day. You can even go swimming in the warm (read: frigid) water!
I’m tied up for Friday evening, so depending on when we head down, I might just go for the Sunday races.
Let me know if anyone has a similar situation!
Oh, that’s so awesome! I’m super stoked to join you all for this. I’m planning to do the beginner non-collegiate clinic and then the Women’s D crit – it looks like I’m allowed to do that, according to the rules on the Enfer page. If not, I’ll just cheer y’all on and take photos!
What I can’t quite figure out though is if that also allows me into the other D races (tt and road race) or if it’s only the clinic + women’s D crit. I emailed the organizers but no reply. Do you know?
Hi guys, some UdeM members would like to join in (including myself). I was planning to go with my fathers Dodge Caravan so I could have about 3 bikes + mine inside.
Carpool sheet that I created
Is it possible to merge the efforts between the two cycling clubs?
1- Is it worth it to buy a yearly FQSC license for these races? Let’s say I would do the ITT and Road race (that would be already 2 races at 20$ one day licence each? + other races like Spring Army and so on…)
2- It says on the races website we need bibshorts with university logo or something, can I have any brand bibshorts with just no pro team tag on them? and what about jerseys?
"Collegiate fields are open only to full time collegiate students with valid USAC Collegiate licenses and full time high school students with valid USAC Junior licenses. Jerseys and bibs for all such riders must feature school names and/or logo, or be generic blank kits; non-scholastic club and trade team kits are not permitted."
3- Do we need USAC licenses? or FQSC licenses covers that?
4- I am also in a particular situation where my main university is ETS but I also have courses at UdeM, can I still participate in races as an UdeM member (since ETS doesn’t have a team) ?
If there are only a couple of UdeM students, we might be able to have you join us, but if it’s any bigger it would probably be best to each organize our own members, since it becomes very hard with lots of people. (We’ll also need to discuss budgeting, because the funding comes from our team budget, so we’d have to ask that your team contribute as well.)
For your questions:
Licenses: it will be cheaper to do a one-day license, but that will only let you do the D races I believe (you can check the ECCC website to be sure). Otherwise, a FQSC license works.
Jerseys/bibs: If you’re racing for UdeM you can use your UdeM kit. If not, it just can’t have any team name stuff on it or other words (besides the clothing brand)
Team: If you’re taking courses at UdeM you should be ok to race for them.
Thanks Dominique for your answers! For now, not a lot of UdeM members confirmed so I think we won’t be that much (I seem to be almost the only one that is motivated). I think actually most are from McGill already. Funding would be for carpooling and accomodations? I’ll have to ask our presidents then for more info on how it works.
Licenses: I am thinking joining Men’s C or D so I’ll look on the website about 1 day licenses to make sure.
Jersey/bibs: I have the UdeM short sleeve jersey (will be too cold to only wear that) but not the bibs. I was thinking using my Trek/Bontrager bibs I guess that would work?
