Worst. Cancellation. Excuse. Ever!

How ridiculous.
That’s really weak. But I did notice that the Canadian Cycling Association’s first listed sponsor is Tim Hortons.
a classical tautology :
“Following the event organizer’s decision to not host these events in 2010, it was determined that it would not be economically and administratively feasible to keep the events on the calendar.”
I think it most natural that an event that will not be held will therefore not generate benefit.
But to gather and consciously “determine” that the event will not be held, ergo it will generate no economic benefit, ergo it should not be held, is the pinnacle of intellectual reasoning… or it was “cock-blocked” (a term i’ve recently added to my vocab) by organizers for the male race… because i bet the same sponsors and the same administration will still be there.
I don’t know. It doesn’t seem that bad. We are getting a real mens PROTOUR race and two at that if I remember correctly. I call it an upgrade!
“The CCA’s first priority is to ensure that all events live up to the required standards.”
…what, like occurring in the first place?
epic fail.
But I wanted to see that insanely hot Swedish girl that rides for HTC-Columbia =(
Fahlin?
Here is a perspective from within the ladies peloton
While the CCA’s “excuse” is perhaps actually the reason the events are cancelled, I can’t help but agree that the Men’s protour events have something big to do with it. The CCA seems to be doing a piss-poor job of developing cycling in Canada (OK, I’m biased because they provide no funding for the Cyclocross World’s team, which by the way, CX worlds is in Tabor, Cz this weekend and can be seen on http://www.cyclingdirt.org/) so I fully expect they are dropping the ball on this, most likely due to lack of resources and good people in the organization.
It’s more unfortunate for Women’s cycling than we first realize, as with fewer big races comes less and less exposure for potential sponsors which makes it even harder to develop high level teams and increase the depth of field in the Women’s side of the sport.
Sorry Peter, I have to disagree with you about the Men’s events being an upgrade at the expense of losing the Women’s events.
wow, that girl is very attractive. Maybe I should race more road…
