According to the website, the bike path closes annually on November 15th.
Anyone know whether it’s accessible nonetheless? I am aware of the holes in the fencing, but i’d like to know if there are other invincible obstacles (for example a draw bridge, up for the winter)!
I was out there a couple seasons ago in the dead of winter to see if there was any x-country ski trails (there wasn’t…). There was nothing to stop me from making it across the estacade.
they opened up the estade for bus traffic during rush our last year (hence why the pavement was so terrible this spring). I don’t know whether it’s technically permissible to ride on it but it’s accessible as far as I know.
Another way is to go trough the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve & take the short bikepath under the Victoria Bridge (funky graffitis!. A gate (also fenced) closes it in winter but you just have to hop down cyclocross style to the St-Lawrence along its shore to bypass it and onto the 5km dirt road (Bloody muddy when it has rained) to to the the estacade. It’s great for winter riding especially when the snow is fairly firm. Hasta la vista!
