We will spend the vast majority of our time this first week on non-plyo type exercises to start the process of building up to Big Jumps. This includes lots of coordination work and a medium amount of core.
A) You will NEED to bring a water bottle. There are no fountains in the room.
B) You will NEED to have sturdy athletic shoes. This will protect your ankles from rolling on a soft cushiony sole.
C) You are NOT invited if you are injured (Back, ankle, knee, neck, pulled muscle etc.) This will make you worse.
D) You will NOT eat 10 samosas, or anything just before coming. We jump around and your insides will want to be on your outsides
Finally… I have two rules for life and for training.
Ok looks very interesting. First issue : i dont have student fees for fitness center, does that change anything? I have a student card though, from the continuing education (i paid team fees)
Second issue : i have class on wednesday from 6 to 9, ending in a month or so (sooner than your classes :p)
What if i try to join at about 8:30-9 for the next couples of week? is there anyone who could help me to find that aerobic room?
@msoleil, I know every undergrad and grad student automatically pays fees for the gym building - not sure if there’s a different set-up for continuing ed. I would suggest trying to scan your card to get in if it doesn’t work I believe you can sign in as a “guest” - I’ve seen people doing this for physio appointments etc.
By this logic, since the cycling team has booked the aerobics room, it would make sense for anyone who doesn’t have a valid McGill ID to be able to come into the gym building by signing in as a guest (There’s tons of non-mcgill groups that use various facilities for various events etc and they are somehow let into the building…)
Second thing, If you show up at 8:30 the only problem I can see is that you won’t be warmed up and so you risk hurting yourself or at the very least just making yourself hurt more.
SO if you do come halfway through, I would recommend doing a full warm-up on your own before joining in. In terms of finding the room, if you just ask anyone you see where the fitness centre is, they’ll point you in the right direction, and once you’ve found the fitness centre you’ll literally see us jumping around in the aerobics room. Otherwise, do you have anyone’s cell number? if you prefer that, PM me and I’ll give you mine.
@David, the Varsity weight room has been left open (no code required) since the beginning of the year. As long as you wear something that looks like a team shirt you’ll look like you’re varsity. =)
Glutes, quads and lower back were gone by last night and my calves and abs are joining the party today. Of course Toguri was a whole bunch of 60rpm threshold intervals last night…
