First snow

not too shabby. Shame there aren’t really any trails in quebec quite like that. It’s probably BC somewhere. The only place where I’ve seen stuff like that near here is at Highland Mt. in New Hampshire.

keeping on with the mountain bike theme, here is my favorite trailer of the winter so far:

(best watched in HD)

Note the beer drinking and cigarette smoking which lend credence to the stereotype of mountain bikers being laid back.

So I for one always thought “fixie tricks” looked a little half-assed.

A friend sent me proof that they are.

No helmets!

Friday Webcomic Fun!

My wife keeps a webcomic and blog, and as a good husband I’m promoting it:

I’ll try and get her to draw a cycling-related joke next week.

Nice find John! Feels good to know that Jen’s scale doesn’t even reach to some of the hardships we endure!

for once a good article on BBC : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8474611.stm

That woman in blue is actually exactly how I imagine the American voter.

yeah, it is really incredibly frustrating reading an article like that, because how are you supposed to convince people of what is right for them if the very ACT of convincing makes them turn their ears off?

how can people be so dumb? honestly.

sometimes, what we need is a little less democracy.

I read in the paper that a significant majority of Quebecers (68%) are for the reinstatement of the death-penalty… I’m actually surprised that the conservatives dont get a greater share of the vote in Qc.

But then again, what we hate more than anything else… is being told what’s good for us by snobby intellectual Torontonians, like Ignatieff, hence a nationalist Bloc Quebecois (which incidentally, does a pretty good job defending progressive and social interests across Canada). While i’m on the topic, if, instead of him, Bob Rae were Liberal leader, that party would be in power, with a majority, tomorrow. I have a “gut feeling” that this guy would be ubiquitously popular–apart from in Alberta.

BTW we must bear in mind that less than 20% of the population actually voted for the Conservatives.

Almost 1,000,000 people voted for the Green Party like me, and yet, not a single voice in Ottawa.

What a crazy system…

I’m sorry Nick, but there is absolutely no way I’m voting for anyone who has teeth the size of some sort of monstrous pre-historic fish.

Oh that and a bullshit foreign policy with cornerstones consisting of abolishing nuclear weapons and the geopolitical insight of a 3rd grader.

Yeah, I really want to vote for a party whose going to make Canada even more of a laughing stock on the international stage.

Top all that up and they want to slash our military budget in half - do that and we won’t even have two frigates to rub together when the Euros come and illegally fish our waters again. At that point we’d might as well surrender military autonomy completely to the States and just scrap the whole thing.

hahah, wow you really made me laugh on that one.

You mean Canada isn’t already the laughing stock on the international stage?

I’m personally not against nuclear weapons. I strongly favour Iran acquiring some. If, moreover, Vietnam and Iraq had any, perhaps there would still be more people alive today, but then again, with overpopulation and all, it’s sometimes beneficial to apply a generous coating of agent Orange, especially as it does keep the stock price up.

At least the Green party seeks to diminish the use of herbicides somewhat

p.s. what a handsome fella, i would readily vote for him

Glad you laughed. I’m planning on a career change to political satire when the green party is elected and they put me out of a job.

I notice that Harper is well on his way to his third chin now. I really think I’m just going to start voting based on looks. Its not like any of the platforms actually mean all that much anyway.

It’s too bad all of the really useful chemicals are so nasty to your health. Even RDX is classified as a carcinogen now :frowning:

so honestly, who would you vote for :

between Bush and Gore?

between Obama and Palin?
