For all the gearheads out there

Check out this story of the winner of the recent Tour de San Luis in Argentina. in a nutshell, Alfredo Lucero, local farmer, win the overall riding an Ultegra built, 8-year old aluminum Pinerello. Oh, and he was competing against the likes of Saxobank and Liquigas.

I would not knock those old high end AL pinarello’s. I’m pretty sure you can get a 2001 prince to weight in at around 16-18 lbs with an Ultegra build - if weight is your main measure of uber-tech.

The guy deserves the kudos for beating out pro riders while training in his spare time (while doing back breaking manual labor no less), not because of his bike.

holy crap that farmer is skinny.

didn’t you catch “Nic the Farmer Winning Bob Brisson” headline last summer. that was brilliant too. may I add that he was training on his spare time as well, working with carcinogenic chemicals all day long…
hahaha! I just think the parallel is striking!

the carcinogenic chemicals I work with don’t make me faster either :frowning:

it’s not the carcinogenic chemicals that make him fast, it’s the raw milk…

so the next big fad after oxygen tents is going to be owning a milk cow?

The Team Cervelo All-Farming Training Regimen?

High altitude farming regiment

Perhaps if you were farming EPO…

wow, great story!

p.s. Nic the Farmer hasn’t won Bob Brisson, yet…
