Hello! I was wondering, which shops in Montreal have deals with the Team?
And also, how soon can we make the most of these deals? After Registration? Season Start?
Thanks!

This sounds like a question for @Felix!
Hi Oliver,
Cycle neron is our current sponsor for bikes and gear and you can get the discount as soon as you’re a club member. However, we’ll renew our sponsors soon and there may be changes to the deals that are avalable for mcgill cycling members.
How do I prove that I’m a member?
Also, how much is the kit? It’s not included in registration, or am I wrong?
I think with Neron you can just go in and tell them your a member, if they have any doubts don’t hesitate to have them send us a message.
That is correct, kits are not included in registration, prices always vary from year to year but are a bit cheaper than what you’d pay for an off the shelf kit. We also usually order a variety of items so obviously the price depends significantly on what you order. We usually do our big order in October but if you want a kit sooner than that we might have some stock leftover from last year.
Thanks @wamazurek!
What was the price of the kit last year?
Also, any Cannondale Spec Stages Powermeters left over from last year? I heard the team gets a good discount, and if they were left over, I could get them it in September!
Thanks!
Again, there wasn’t a single price BC we offered a variety of different jerseys and bibs, however a standard core jersey we sold for $85 and core bibs at $95.
No definitely not for the stages, we don’t order any stock of those.
However if you’re in a rush independant CC might be a decent place to start looking. I don’t know what Cannondale Spec is but I see Ultegra 6700 stages crankarms there with some frequency.
I saw @willthespill1 is selling a couple power meters at the moment.
I have 1 GXP and one Shimano PM for sale
When I meant Cannondale Spec, I thought Stages made different power meters depending on the brand so the weight of the cranks (the power meter and the non power meter) were the same. If its all the same, then a standard would do!
I heard from somebody on the team that the team did a big beginning of the year order of stages power meters. Is that still going on?
Also, is there a difference between years in the kits? If not, it doesn’t sound like a bad idea to get the kit sooner (left over stock).
how much were you thinking for each of them? Also, could you give me their full names? It would help make a decision!
My apologies, I had a moment of stupidity there, you’re absolutely correct. Its a crankarm for a Cannondale SI HG crankset you need? Maybe someone will correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think the splines on the spindle will fit anything other than a Cannondale crankarm, ie there’s no cross compatibility… You also might have a hard time buying one of those used as they’re a lot less common than shimano or FSA. Granted one option is just to replace the whole crankset. In years where we’ve done them orders have been in the spring generally.
WRT to the kit there are sometimes design changes from year to year but I don’t think we’ve decided about this year yet… Anyways, @kpinks can tell you what we have in stock if you like.
Yes, I would need the Cannondale specific one, that’s correct.
Also when will you order this year’s kit? And how long do the orders usually take? Basically, should I get one from a past year, or wait for this years?
We generally do kit orders in October and have them delivered by December. More or less if you really want to race on behalf of the club between now and December you will need at least a jersey however if you don’t then I would wait and get your kit when we do our full order. (Keep in mind that you could also just borrow a jersey if its only 1 mtb race or something)
I was only planning on road races, or do we need to ride all conditions?
Also, does that mean that to rides in the morning and training, we don’t wear the team kit until December?
By the way, thank you for all the helpful answers, I’ve been asking many questions, so this is a real help for me!
You’ll probably be fine with a summer jersey and bibs for road races, as long as you use enough base layers/limb warmers/etc (and the person holding your winter coat doesn’t wander off), which are pretty much a necessity, but I don’t know many people who use the McGill ones, although apparently they’re pretty decent. I don’t like racing in the warmer jacket-like outer layer we have anyway, as it’s really not very #AeroIsEverything. You may want to get it for training/group rides where the pace isn’t as high and you’re not working as hard though if you don’t have something like it already.
We have a very strict “All club/team rides must be in team kit” policy.
lol jk. If that was a rule at all our group rides would be like 1/5 the size, and I can’t afford to spend that much money doing laundry. Wear whatever you have that doesn’t smell too bad/is appropriate for the weather, unless it’s an actual sanctioned race in the spring, in which case you have to have some sort of top that has McGill on it. People have even gotten away with hoodies, although that’s a bad idea for a number of reasons… except for in FQSC. Quebec races are picky.
