GREEN MOUNTAIN STAGE RACE - Aug 29 - Sept 1

Hello everybody!

The biggest race McGill Cycling competes in is coming up, and registration on Bikereg has been open since July 4th! The Green Mountain Stage Race takes place in the Green Mountains of Vermont, and is an ideal time to test your mettle at the end of a season’s worth of training.

Act fast, because REGISTRATION PRICES INCREASE BY $20 ON JULY 9th AT NOON.

REGISTER QUICKLY. There are field limits and they fill up quickly! You don’t want to be forced to race in a category that doesn’t fit you, or worse - not race at all!

In order to race with McGill and have your racing subsidized (exact subsidy TBD) you must have paid your team fees (on top of your club fees). Expect to pay McGill Cycling a fee for transportation and accommodation (exact amount TBD once we get a sense of how many people are going).

The racing takes place over the Labour Day weekend (Aug 29th - Sept 1) - 4 races over 4 days.

Here is a breakdown of the stages:

Aug 29th - ITT (5.7 miles, rolling)
Aug 30th - Circuit Race (19 mile rolling circuit)
Aug 31st - Road Race (point-to-point race with a finish on App Gap, includes K/QOM, and sprint competitions)
Sept 1st - Criterium (1km, 6 corners, fast, technical)

Here is the official website: http://www.gmsr.info/index.php (you can also find the flyer there)
Here is where you register: https://www.bikereg.com/the-green-mountain-stage-race

All categories except the Gran Fondo and Juniors cost $215 or higher. The prizes are pretty nice though!

See you all there,

Dhruv

I KNOW A GOOD PLACE WHERE WE CAN STAY, WE SHOULD RESERVE SOON.

How will you do with licenses?

Quoting the Race Flyer: “ALL NON-US RACERS MUST PRESENT A VALID UCI LICENSE AT REGISTRATION (Provincial LICENSES ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED)”

I imagine that this means there will be no event-licenses available to purchase on place… :frowning:

The FQSC licence is a valid UCI licence. I don’t know about day licences, but they’d probably be limited to cat 4-5 if they are available.

You can’t usually get a day license for a stage race, only for the one day race that sometimes exists, but this time i think its just a granfondo.

If you are interested in doing this race, or are seeking accomodation with us, sign up so that we know to e-mail you. Deadline is Wednesday, July 19th, at 11:59pm.

Great place. Cheap. Bikeable to all races except on the Monday and has a kitchen and gorgeous views.

Free lodging at my place for the final stage

What cat are you all racing? I’ll likely be in Burlington Sunday afternoon/Monday morning.
