Nah He made the mistake of buying one of those fold up bikes for easy storage;)
The magic of carbon. Frame worth 10,000 dollars, a second later it’s junk.
the frame would have been scrapped if it was made of aluminum too, though, in a 60kph crash?
Yeah, the crash looked pretty terrifying. But, keep in mind when it comes to frame materials… http://memegenerator.net/instance/23096744
true true.
I think this top of the line bike testing video might shed light on this discussion.
The slight difference is when you crash your 1000$ aluminium frame you can still buy another and not destroy your savings account.
That video is a classic, by the way. Every competitive cyclist should be made to watch it.
If you’re regularly coming across angle grinders taped to 2"x4"s while cycling I’m pretty sure you’re doing it wrong…
A lot of those steel frames are quite simply overbuilt for their jobs anyway because the quality of steel means that when designed for stiffness they are “over-strong”. Beat on a Reynolds 953 frame and tell me how tough it is.
That’s what that video is a classic. The german + ridiculous testing methods = instant winner.
Luckily for carbon, I can provide an equally ridiculous counter-test:
