This could probably go under “evg else”, but whatever. So our race is May 22nd at Mac Campus. Races will run from 8am to 6pm and we will need people all day to:
a) (15) set-up course, tents, food (we should be there a good 1h30-2h BEFORE)
b) (at least 13!!!) be marshals on the course --> an Irish fest will be happening on the same day on John Abbott’s campus… more than 1000 people are expected!!!
c) (2) take care of big money at the registration desk–> drunk Irish people WILL try to get this money from you, your job is to prevent this, by any means
d) (1-2) take care of the food tent
e) (3-4) advanced riders to teach the intro packs
The best is of course if you could be there all day. I’m hoping to have enough volunteers so that we can back each other up in order that everyone could do their race(s). However, it would also be good to have people who are exclusively volunteers.
We would be driving there (unless someone wants to do a 1903-Tour like start, at 4 in the morning) and if you want to volunteer, don’t worry you’ll be getting a lift.
I think if we had 20 people, it would be good. Scott asked the Beaconsfield Cycling Club, and we’ll ask other friends, so these 20 people don’t have to come from Cycling@McGill, but it would be great to have a strong presence.
If you can come, sign up! You can mention if you want to be exclusively volunteer, if you have a car, if you know friends who are willing to spend a day with us, etc.
I also volunteer my girlfriend, Myriam, to help out. I think she would prefer something where she could chat a bunch, since she’s not super stoked with the whole cycling thing that much…
I’d be glad to volunteer but I would really like to race too. If my group is first (as it usually is) then I can help the rest of the day. I also speak French.
i’m up for pretty much anything from a-d, one of the organizers can make the call as to what they need from me (probably not qualified for e ), and ill volunteer all day too, as long as i find some way to get there and back, not racing…i thought of biking there but then id probably end up leaving my bike unattended… ( O.o )
