The first Mardis Lachine race is tomorrow, June 5th, at 7PM. Urban legend says it’s one of the fastest races in North America. 50KM for Seniors, on a 1 mile circuit with banked turns, lasting an hour or so. Pro riders usually show up for a couple of them, last year David Veilleux from Europcar went to 3.
The race start is in the Lasalle Parc, on 10th Avenue in Lachine, and very easily accessible biking from downtown.
I’m probably going tomorrow, wondering if anyone else (riding for mcgill or another team) is interesting in riding there with me.
I believe as a Women’s, Senior 3, or Masters you can choose to either race at 6, for half the distance (24.5km) or to race at 7 for the full distance (50K).
According to that document, the field leaving at 6 will be a mix of women’s and men’s cadets, men’s senior 3, men’s masters, and (maybe) women’s senior riders ? I’m not sure about that one, maybe Catherine knows.
Regardless, for that field there is only 2 rankings, one for the men’s cadets and one for all the rest, so if you race at that time you would be in competition with women’s cadets and masters.
The field leaving at 7 would be a mix of men’s and women’s Senior riders, Master riders, Juniors, and Pros.
The document isn’t right, they kept the same one as like 5 years ago…
All senior men (cat 1,2,3), all master men (a,b,c,d), and all junior men race together. (7 pm)
The women (cadet, junior, senior) race with the cadet men. (6pm)
The younger kids race at 5:30 pm
Hey guys, I’m missing safety pins. Do you guys know if they have some at the course ? If anyone has 5 (yeah I know that’s a lot) extra ones that would be awesome.
