Hi guys,
If you’re planning on racing with us this season, you’ll need a license (most likely through the FQSC).
Right now we’re not on the official list of teams for FQSC licenses, so just mark yourself as Independent-RP (you’ll be able to write in McGill Cycling when you sign up for races).
If you’re new to racing and want to race in the lower categories of the ECCC (cat D or intro), you can buy a day license at the races (this will be cheaper if you’re only doing a few races). However, if you want to race in anything higher (A-C) you’ll need a full license.
Edit by Noah: To buy a license, you want to go to http://adhesions.fqsc.net/connexion and create an account. You can then fill out your profile, then click “Adhésion membre” McGill Cycling isn’t currently in their system, so you can register as Independent-RP. There’s also about a million different categories of licenses to choose from. Guys will probably want “Route & Piste Senior 3 (Élite) homme” for road races. Not sure what the equivalent is for women. There are options further down for mountain biking as well.
You can get a UCI license from most cycling organizations (USA Cycling, FQSC, etc.), they’re generally more expensive, but they let you race internationally. The FQSC only sells UCI licenses (and day licenses for within Quebec), but other places (I know US does, not sure about other provinces) sell multiple levels of licenses.
Their website is quite useless at explaining anything. To actually buy a license, you want to go to http://adhesions.fqsc.net/connexion and create an account.
