McGill BigMac Campus Double-header with Cheese!

So I was surprised by a few key team members lack of knowledge about the mcgill race. I guess I have not done a good job publicizing the specifics. Please familiarize yourselves with the following information, so if an ECCCer asks you a question, you are ready to promote!!

McGill’s BigMac Campus Criterium Double-header with cheese!

Quebec’s FIRST EVER University Cycling Event!

Be a part of cycling HISTORY! Contact mcgillcycling@gmail.com with questions

Saturday May 22nd McGill University will host a Criterium as part of the regular Fédération Québécoise des sports cyclists calendar. This race will include, in addition to the full complement of Masters and Senior 1,2,3 categories, four separate university races: Intro (in the spirit of the ECCC intro categories), Univeristy men’s 3-4 (in ECCC terms C+D), University men’s 1-2 (A+B) , and university women (A,B,C) This is the very beginning of the Circuit Cycliste Universitaire du Québec’s sure-to-be long and illustrious history. For those looking for a full weekend of racing, there is a second, unrelated race happening in Hudson, just 25 kms further to the west on Sunday.

The answers to your Frequently Asked Questions:

Categories/Race fees: $12 for each university race, $20 for Senior and Masters races. American currency accepted at par. Regular USA Cycling licenses will be accepted, UCI license is not required. HOWEVER, USA Cycling Collegiate-only licenses are NOT sufficient, and a $20 day license must be purchased on-site from the FQSC. Collegiate racers ARE ALLOWED to race in two races, both the collegiate and the Senor 1, 2, or 3 category (or masters category if applicable), but race fees for both races will be applied. Student card required for participation in university categories. Racers are encouraged to wear their school’s kit while riding in the university races.
Directions to race course: http://www.mcgill.ca/macdonald/contact/directions/ The race course is located in the West Island of Montréal on the McGill Macdonald campus, in the town of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, 30 minutes west of downtown Montréal.

Course: A highly technical and fast 1.2 km circuit with multiple corners and sweeping, slightly downhill S-curves into the finish line. Proper positioning in the final laps will be essential as a sprint finish is nearly impossible through the finishing S-bend.

Accommodations: A very limited number of homestay positions will be available on a first come first serve basis. Email mcgillcycling@gmail.com to reserve. Downtown Montréal has hundreds of lodging options, and those interested in experiencing the Montréal nightlife on Saturday would be advised to choose a downtown housing option. Those racers interested in racing on Sunday might choose instead to stay in the West Island, either near the airport in Dorval, or on Ile Perrot, closer to Sunday’s race in Hudson.

I’ve added a page for the race at mcgillcycling.com/race. Link this everywhere! I’ll add a french translation and make it prettier eventually.

Jon, Looks awesome, thanks!!! I actually sent you the pre-mathieu edit, so can I just go in there and edit a couple little things the normal way?

Yup. Just be aware it’s full html.
