First, a quick introduction:
My name is Dennis Cottreau and back in 2013-2014, I was the President of the McGill University Cycling Team, a time and experience from which I have many fond memories.
After university, I raced semi-professionally around North America for a couple years, and once that was done I started coaching other athletes. That’s when I discovered how inefficient and time-consuming the tools currently available are at building high-quality training plans for endurance athletes. So, I cracked open Excel and got to work.
Fast forward a couple years and I’ve teamed up with my good friend and Co-Founder to form a small athletic startup in Halifax, NS. We’re working to improve the planning tools available in endurance sports – sports like cycling running, and triathlon – so that athletes of all levels can get access to expert instruction.
After a successful launch of our initial product this fall, we’re looking to build our team in preparation for world domination, presenting opportunities we hope will be of interest to your members
Bereda is looking to fill both Junior and Senior roles in Marketing and Development. There are opportunities for summer student positions as well.

The opportunity is to work in a field you’re passionate about, endurance sports, by joining a promising startup at the ground level that’s working out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, a city positioned to be Canada’s next big tech hub.
We work inside Volta Labs, an incubator that’s tripling in size this spring. This surrounds us with a community of ambitious people who are passionate about what they do, are learning everyday, and are constantly trying to challenge the status quo.
Instead of being confined to one company’s walls, you get to walk down the halls and have serendipitous moments where you make friends, learn what other people are working on and are able to bounce ideas off of each other.
Startup life is all about getting up in the morning and getting things done. We’re constantly measuring what we’re doing to learn what is and isn’t working in order to iterate towards a solution.
We’re looking for people that want the opportunity to build something massive. You take initiative, love to learn, and have a desire for excellence. You want to be around people that share a growth mindset. When presented with a challenge you chase solutions with a sense of urgency, but are transparent with your work and are able to admit failure. Most of all, you’re able to empathize with customer needs and strive to better understand their problems in order to deliver delightful experiences.
Having an athletic background, especially in endurance sports is a plus, and if you use products like TrainingPeaks, Today’s Plan, Golden Cheetah or any WKO software that’s even better, but not needed.
Junior Positions – if you fit the description in the “about you” section, we want to hear from you! No formal marketing training required. If you have any of the skills below, that’s a bonus. The most important part is that you learn fast and want to have an impact.
Search Engine Optimization
Senior Marketing Position:
Work closely with the co-founding team to develop and execute a marketing strategy that builds on the company’s early traction, with the potential to grow with the company into a leadership position.
Design experiments to test new channels and optimize existing ones. Use your experience to identify and communicate marketing opportunities, then roll up your sleeves and nail the execution.
Junior Positions – if you fit the description in the “about you” section and have experience writing code, we want to hear from you! If you have any of the skills below, that’s a bonus. The most important part is that you learn fast and want to have an impact.
Meteor (bonus points)
Senior Development Position:
At Bereda, you won’t be a “cog in the machine”. We’re small and work fast which means your code will ship continuously.
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in systems design, but with a panache for elegant user interfaces. You’ll be given problems to solve, rather than solutions to implement.
You’ll work directly with customers and the co-founding team to help shape the direction of the product. You’ll then take that direction and get the most out of the development team to make it happen. This role brings the opportunity to grow into a senior leadership role in the company.
