Photos from Utah: v1

Here are some pics from my accent of Big Cotton Canyon yesterday! 14.7 mile climb, 4584ft of elevation gain at 7.8% avg gradient. (more info http://www.saltlakecycling.com/showride.php?rideID=1000). Going to Moab on Saturday more photos to come!

Nice flowy switchbacks!

Here’s where i stopped to change into full finger gloves and a wind vest.

I was counting on this store for some food. Obviously it is closed. Pictured here with my trusty rented steed.

No pics from the decent, but it was c.o.l.d

Ben’s crash course in mountain biking:

  1. Weight BACK on the downhills, butt low and behind the saddle

  2. Knees bent, shoulders bent, use them like shock absorbers; don’t let the bike bounce you around, you should let the bike move independently of your body

  3. Keep your pedals LEVEL on the downhills, DON’T sit on the seat

  4. Flow like a river rushing down the mountain

Wazzup with all that snow? I wanna see some nice sunny blue skies.

Tell me about it. The top portions of the climbs are still snowy at this time of year. It’s perfectly comfortable in the city (15-18 degrees or so) but freezing at the top. I think i’ve climbed like 15-17K feet this week, a lot of time in 42-26…

MOAB tomorrow AM!!!
