So for the second weekend of our season we are going to be driving to Kingston, Ontario for the Queen’s University Criterium. Queen’s has always been the #1 university MTB team in Canada, and in recent years they’ve had really impressive growth on the road side of things. This is their second year hosting a Crit at the end of March, and last year was so successful they’ve upgraded from a suburban course to a full on downtown campus circuit. It’s gonna be awesome, and there’s a fair amount inter-university pride on the line here.
Here’s approximately what the weekend is going to look like:
[]Friday 5:00: Departure
[]Friday ~8:00: Arrival. Unpack bikes. Eat snacks. Bed.
[]Saturday morning/early afternoon: Race. You can see the schedule and course info here.
[]Saturday ~4:00PM: First departure option.
[]Sunday ~ 10:00AM: Training ride.
[]Sunday ~ 3:30PM: Final Departure.
We’re going to be staying at my parents place, which is about a 5 minute bike ride from the Crit course. As you might have noticed, there are two departure options: one for those who prefer to get back to MTL as soon as possible, and one for those who want to hang around until Sunday to get a highlight reel of some unfamiliar roads. Depending on demand, we might bail on either of these options; we also might need to send some people back early who would like to stay to make the car situation work out. Let me know your preferences through the signups above.
Because this is so close and because we don’t have to pay for accommodations, this will be a very cheap weekend. There will also be breakfast, lunch, and dinner (for those who stay) provided on Saturday. We’ll have final figures once we see how big the group is going to be, but think <=$50.
So: Sign up above if you’re interested; Sometime near the middle of next week I’ll send an email with all the details looking for 100% confirmations. I’m super excited for this race and hopefully we get a huge group.
