Random Bike Build Questions

I am currently in the process of attempting to buy parts to get a Cyclocross bike built up and was in need of some help with mechanical questions.

  1. Can I run Cantilever front brakes using a road groupo like sram/shimano or Campy? or do I need a specific set up to run them.

  2. Can I run Sram Groupset on Shimano hubs. I have a Back wheel that has a 105 hub and wanted to run SRAM. Was Just wondering if it would be Compatible or do I need a SRAM cassette as well.

  3. Is there a better groupset to go between Sram/Shimano/Campy… I Tried Sram last summer and I really enjoyed it.

  1. Standard road levers will work, you will of course need new brakes because the attachment is different.
  2. Shimano and SRAM are friends
  3. At the moment SRAM seems to be the best bang for your buck on new stuff, but it’s a personal preference too.

If you are interested in a used ultegra SL group I am thinking of selling mine, send me an e-mail

I am excited to see how you build this bad boy up, Stephen! SRAM would match the sticker on the seat stay, but they’re all good. Campy has the most fanatics and is the most expensive, SRAM, like Brandon said, is a good bang for your buck, and Shimano is just absolutely everywhere so easiest to pick up used.
