I’ll be in Montreal in August, and I was wondering if there is a good regional race schedule you could direct me to. If there isn’t any racing, I’d also be up for doing a group ride.
thanks.

Hey Darren,
The regional calendar for all cycling events can be found on the provincial cycling website (“Federation Quebecoise des Sports Cyclistes”) at:
http://www.fqsc.net/comp/Calendrier.htm
There are still plenty of events until October in the area, though the Quebec Cup mountain bike schedule typically ends on the labour day weekend.
There are other links to events on the links section of the Cycling Team website.
Ride on!
Patrick
Hey Darren, it really depends on what level you want to race at. There’s weeknight crits for both senior 1 and master’s levels. Let me know what kind of level you are looking for and I can tell you which races would be best.
It sounds like things are pretty active up there. I’ll check out the calendar. I race cat-3 in the US, but I focus on master’s events when I can. A Thursday night crit would be a hell of a lot better than a reception with a bunch of droll academics! I’m not sure when my talk is, so I could be screwed for racing.
There’s a weekly Wednesday night crit in Laval (riding distance from downtown Montreal) for Master’s.
There is also the world famous Tuesday night crit in Lachine (also within riding distance). The field for the race is a fairly high level though. It’s definitely Cat 1/2 speed wise, but it is open to everyone. Some Masters and Cat 3s do it every week. At the very least, it’s worth going out to watch.
Getting pulled is better than sitting around at the sociology meetings…
I’m trying to drag another sociologist along as well. He’s about in the same boat in terms of level, we can generally hang with a cat 1-2-3 crit pack. A technical course and a bunch of cat-1’s may blow us…hills would help, and I can’t imagine a part of Montreal without hills…though I suppose there are parking lots…
thanks!
