I’ve just launched the new version. Lemme know if you have any gripes, hate this, have requests, etc. And especially if you find bugs.
Bug list: FIXED User registration blocked by captcha.
Actually, IE was working. (7 and above, 6 sort of, but even gmail doesn’t support it anymore)
Gallery is rather slow since it downloads all thumbnails at once. FIXED Front page news section needs a bit of love.
Calendar is entirely gone until it’s maintained a bit more.
Smileys are broken. They’ll be completely revamped anyways. FIXED New threads are not appearing in the forum. FIXED News view does not seperate articles. FIXED Site using Helvetica. FIXED js bug breaks “last comment” and “new” links. Issue with tableheaders.js.
Couple of comments:
In the news section of the website (as viewed on Firefox), there is no separation between the RPI 2011 article and the Rutgers 2010 article. I view them as a single entry.
Also, I think we could add the 2010 Yale report there as well.
// Other than that, great job. Lots of white, as dennis said very euro !
Looks good but the website is way too narrow. Widescreen is pretty prolific now and I have basically 50% of the screen (25% on each side of the template) as blank space. Makes for very narrow forum text blocks.
my only comment is that it used to be when you clicked on the “2 new messages” in a thread, or from the main forum page, it would bring you straight to the top of the messages you hadn’t read yet. Now, it just brings you to the top of the thread, so you have to scroll down and figure out where the new messages are. Small thing, but I found that feature to be really useful. I’m using firefox.
Fixed the broken links bugs, but just realized that the forum comments are all huge now. Will fix that later.
Edit: height is fixed. But colors on stars are gone, and there might be some issues with new threads vs new comments.
On the create a new account page, there is no code in the “captcha” verification box. There are only dots and coloured lines. I’ve tried Chrome, Safari, and Firefox on my Mac today, and there’s the same issue on all three… OR I might be a robot from the future unable to see the code–you never know.
