Since we’re currently in the middle of exams, I figured I’d give everyone something to look forward to: SOUTH CAROLINA TRAINING CAMP 2014.
For those who don’t know what this is, here’s the rundown:
Over spring break (first full week of March) the team is planning to have it’s traditional week long training camp in South Carolina. This is a fantastic experience where you’re able to ride on some incredible terrain, get a big fitness boost for the following racing season, and get to know your teamates A LOT better as we get all share a house, meals and rides for an extended period of time. IT IS AWESOME, and by far the best time I’ve had with the McGill Cycling team during my time here.
A few preliminary details about the camp:
Leaving Friday evening/afternoon, February 28th (Drive throughout the night)
Returning to Montreal Sunday morning, March 9th
6 FULL days of riding, potentially 2 half days
TEAM MEMBERS ONLY. If you’re a club member, you must upgrade to team status in order to attend the camp
ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOMED.
MTBing is available… This is a road dominated camp, but the MTBing in the area is fantastic. Last year we didn’t have any mountain bikers, but there have been some in the past and there could be again. This can be discussed further if there are interested people.
COST: ~$450, subject to change. This includes travel, lodging, and meals once we arrive at our SC destination. The diet has traditionally been vegetarian for the week to save money. This will most definitely continue this year.
Sign up so we can start getting a sense of numbers! This is a BIG planning project for myself and the rest of the exec so give us a hand and let us know if you’re interested, for sure going, or any other possible circumstances as soon as possible.
ALSO: This year we don’t have anyone filling the VP Events position of the exec so as president I’m stepping up and taking lead for this trip. However, I’m looking for at least two people who are interested in sharing the planning and organizing of this adventure with me. This will be great training for anyone that is thinking about being an executive member for 2014-2015.
