Hey guys, so since Emily is kind of not organizing the mountain biking side of things for this trip, I’ve kind of starting poking around myself. I’ve emailed a couple local universities with cycling teams, to try and find locals to ride with, and I’ve also been in touch with the local singlespeeder racer guy that I rode with last year. I’m just trying to get a handle on what kind of numbers we’re looking at.
Also, I’m wondering if a decision has been made on the two bikes vs. one bike thing. It would be really easy to just rent a larger trailer than last time, and those who want to bring two bikes could (because I don’t think we’re talking about very many bikes). Last year’s trailer was laughably small. When I saw it the first thing I thought was, Where’s the other one? Trailer space is much cheaper than people space.

So, things I would like to know:

  1. Do you plan on mountain biking while you are down there

  2. Do you plan on renting a cheap and awesome specialized from Sycamore Cycles

  3. Do you wish that you could bring your own mountain bike along with your own road bike?

Emily had previously said that there would not be room for two bikes. Either way, if I only have my road bike, I’ll rent on one day; if I were to have both, I would probably only ride mountain twice.

could you ride said trails on a cross bike?

definitely not. if you could, that wouldn’t be mountain biking.

Still working out those 1 vs 2 bike details. I’ll let y’all know as soon as it’s figured out. In the mean time, I wish I could be this badass…

I want to bring my own. If need be I’ll trade luggage space for bike space and be the smelly kid.
If it’s 1 bike/person my road bike will stay on the wall.

@Emily - We can totally rig you up a terminator mtb hand. I’m going to start drawing up the plans right now. Do you have a colour preference?

I think the only goal with number of bikes is that we don’t sacrifice a persons person space for a 18 hour drive to bring more bikes.

I do not think it will be a problem at all to bring multiples as long as we pack ahead of departure time, that will give us the chance to make all the puzzle pieces fit.

I would also like to bring my own mountain bike and possibly bring my road bike as well!

haha awesome. red and white would be great to match the kit. maybe a crest in there as well.

@Emily, Ask Josef, he might make it out of carbon fiber.

I’ll weave some red and white carbon fibre to produce a lightweight euro terminator arm.
