Ste. Martine! April 28th

The official thread for one of the most popular races of the year. This is the last opportunity to race in Quebec before a large percentage of the team goes home. The race consists of a 10km circuit, raced 5 times for the women, 8 times for Sn. 3, and 10 times for senior 1-2. I know it seems logically impossible that it be always super super windy, but I’d actually take 10 to 1 odds that there will be 20km/h winds at least. The course is pancake flat in farm country, with mostly decent asphalt. Full details here

The best part, it’s less than an hour drive away. You don’t have to wake up super early; you don’t have to sleep on a couch. You won’t even loose that much study time.

If you’re interested (which you should be), sign up and you’ll get an email on monday or tuesday. I will be asking for 100% commitments by Wednesday at midnight so that I can organize rentals.

Eric’s missing a zero. It should be at least 200km/h winds.

Jonathan, this would mean there are hurricanes cat.4 or tornadoes cat.2 each year for this race.

Hurricanes are more likely though, since the tornadoes would not be big enough to provoke wind all over the race loop, except if it’s following the pelotons which is very unlikely to happen.

Any idea if they will be selling day licences? Also, I think I am a Maitre now :S

Almost certainly. At least I remember that they did last year.

Yay Pete!

Day licences are 20$ (cash - everything always cash). Arrive early, there always loads of people.

@Mathd, ok, maybe not 200km/h, maybe it was actually missing two zeros, but in binary, before he converted to decimal for posting.
2011 winds on Ste-Martine day were 14km/h average, with gusts at 69km/h: http://www.climate.meteo.gc.ca/climateData/dailydata_f.html?StationID=10762&timeframe=2&cmdB1=Allez&Month=4&Year=2011&cmdB1=Allez

I just sent an email about this - if you’re interested and didn’t get it, let me know.
