For those who think that spinning is torture enough without the added hell of getting up at 6:00am on Friday, there will be spinning on Sunday mornings at 9:00. Or actually 9:15, because the gym doesn’t open until 9:00 and it takes a few minutes to get to the spin room and get set up.
I’ve been teaching spinning classes at McGill for a few years now, and last year led the team spinning on Friday evenings. My philosophy is that the point of spinning is to transform an essentially boring workout into something fun, or at least tolerable, by playing a wide variety of music, doing lots of very short, intense drills, and generally not taking things too seriously.
Try it! You can’t get dropped in a spinning class. It will be warm (bring a bottle and a towel), dry even if it’s raining outside, and there are no potholes. Bring your own pedals and shoes if you want to (I swap out the spin bike pedals for my speedplays) or just ride in running shoes.
