I sadly think I don’t have time to bike to Mike’s cottage, but I will be at the F1 track doing intervals on Thursday. A few longer (~5min) efforts and a number of sprints and attacks. Honestly might just look like a typical hammer fest. Anywho, meet at the gates if you’re interested. Pace will be high but I have no issues with people sitting at the back not taking pulls.
I’ll meet and the gates and head over to the track, but I have some mechanical things to work on so I may not be able to participate in the same workout.
I went by the F1 track today and there were soooooo many cyclists (i’m guess over 100+ riders, no joke)! It was crazy! There wasn’t even enough room for all these cyclists speeding around. You should probably avoid the evening rush and go a bit earlier
Any particular reason for the increased volume, Valina?
I’m guessing people might be excited to ride their bikes outside but that’s just me. Yesterday anyone on MCT had their Strava rides posted as “ridden with 16 other people, etc” lol I thought that was funny.
1 ) Cycling is getting more and more popular.
- The roads are really, really really bad around the city so the track is a “smooth” bet.
I’m heading down there around 5:30 or 6:00 so hopefully I’ll catch you guys.
If it’s too busy to do intervals I’ll head to the (boring) estacade.
You’re kidding right? Most days I’ll take the Estacade over the F1 Track. You can only do so many laps of the F1 track before you get bored. Ironically, I’d prefer to have lots of people on the F1 while riding…a big crowd gives you lots of carrots to chase and sticks to run from. I guess I made a bit of an ass of myself with that analogy…

You coul stay with a group and be a pack mule
The Estacade boring? Where in any Canadian city can you hammer at a high speed without having to stop for 11 km?
- without having to turn much
On a side note, there’s probably plenty of roads in the prairies that offer Estacade-like conditions…that and some back roads in Ontario that aren’t filled with punchy hills (get at me, bro)
Hey, I’m not dissing the estacade. It’s an awesome resource and I do intervals there all the time. But it’s almost by definition a boring road to ride on, unless you have intervals or a group to keep things interesting.
Guys, I think Eric’s a hater
Bug season on the estacade - never fun
