I need some new wheels for training. Recommendations?
Consider WMD. Conversely, a used pair of fulcrum 5s are a solid all-around choice
How bout these?

wat
JVK, you so funneh
open pros with 105 hubs baby
I’m honestly considering the 32 spoke open pros lol
Kevlar tires
25mm gatorskins
Frankly the whole “training wheel” thing is a bit bunk, because what makes wheels reliable is quality of the extruded rim and spoke tension, neither of which are inherently cheap.
You can make an absolutely crap wheel even with 32 spokes.
But if you crash on a training ride and break your open pros you won’t want to shoot yourself like if you were using lightweights
Jason wouldn’t know about training wheels since he doesn’t train
Too busy being awesome to train Dennis =P
I don’t doubt it!
Any more suggestions people?
Pretty much any medium profile, medium spoke count entry-to mid level wheel will work. Preferably with sealed bearings and a sealed pawl housing. I’ve had unsealed freewheels die on me in crappy spring conditions.
Hello All! I use Mavic Reflex 32 spokes for training, racing and long distance. I’m always ready.
I’d second David’s suggestion, although I’d go 1 step lower on the totem pole and rock some Fulcrum 7s. Cheap, super heavy and robust (so far for me anyway). I’d never really noticed how light my racing wheels were until I swapped them in for race day; big difference.
I also had nothing but good experiences with my fulcrum 5s until one of them flew off a car roof on the highway.
^ THATS why we couldn’t find the matching fulcrum wheel for your bike after SC hahah
Fulcrum T (Fulcrum 7 hubs, Fulcrum 5 rims and spokes) come stock on cervelos, most people upgrade them immediately, so you can find them cheap “used”, with almost 0 kilometers on them.
