Thank you for the answers.

Are you doing any important FQSC TTs this season? If not, then no… But otherwise clip-on bars have probably the highest watts-saved/$ ratio in general. Expect to spend some time getting your position comfortable though - might need a new seatpost as well if you have a setback one right now.
yes, I would like to do some FQSC TTs. So i guess this will be my next purchase.
If you are doing a flat TT absolutely yes
there are a ton of used aluminum bars kicking around, just saying.
So david, are those videos, in your professional opinion, the equivalent of 9/11 conspiracy videos, or do you suspect that there might be more than a kernel of truth to them?
Well, considering a BIG laptop battery is about 60Wh (watts for 1 hour) to total drain, and the extra weight it requires, plus the weight of the motor, the extra resistance of the motor when it is not being used (or it needs to be on a more complicated clutch system) and the required interface, I very much doubt you would get a significant performance gain on a 5 hour race. Of course, if you can switch bikes for a short amount of time, who’s to say, a 50W bonus is not bad. But seriously…
It would be nice to launch a ridiculous “1700” watt attack on the Bosberg/Kapelmuur. It would definitely NOT be useful on a mountain stage or an Ardennes race but a race like Paris-Roubaix/Flanders would go well with it.
Do I think Cancellara actually did it? lol no
Most useful on a flat TT obviously.
flat TT specialist… classics specialist… math checks out:
