Starting this Wednesday Nov 8th, we will be starting team weight training sessions. We will meet at the Varsity weight room at 6pm and start practicing some of the suggested training exercises provided to us by Patrick and Mary.
All are welcome to attend, just remember to bring a pencil/pen and paper to start recording the details of your workout.
This is not a mandatory workout, just come when you can spare the time and energy.
Hi David,
I have a question for you since you are our official MTB coach, will the mtb team have a mandatory activity/meeting during the winter ? just to know for planning purposes.
Thanks
seb
there is one team. the mcgill cycling team. all athletes on the team have the same requirements, whether they ride road or off-road. one workout per week, as well as any additional sessions that are determined to be mandatory. you will be notified in advance of these additional sessions.
But we must reinforce that the Sunday spinning is the most encouraged workout to attend. Although it is not mandatory (yet), it is extremely encouraged. 9am sundays is not that hard of a time to make, and workouts usually dont last more than two hours, so unless its something serious, very few (except for maybe the doctor(s)or homeopathists in training on the team) of you have reasonable excuses to not attend in my opinion.
Curb your alcoholism on Saturday nights if you have to…
This workout (Sunday morning) is a part of being on the team. As Mary has said, other varsity teams have MUCH MUCH more strict training requirements. After all, we are a team, so there is some degree of commitment to be expected by its members. The workout is scheduled so as to encourage us getting together at least once a week to spin. Especially once the snow falls, weekly outdoor rides wont be happening, so this is the teams main chance to get its members together.
PLEASE people, if you can, come to the sunday spinning sessions.
I’ll be there tomorrow too from ~6pm-7pm to do some of my own training, but I can answer questions and help people out while I’m there. I’ll likely hit the pool after for a quick swim for a little cardio (and muscle soreness prevention) … any swimmers out there want to come? Danielle? …
On that note, I’m going to the pool on Friday at 11am if you’d like to join. No drills just constant 4k pace. Word of caution though, once I’m in I won’t look up - unless you’re ahead of me
We had a pretty good turnout tonight. I think it’s safe to say we all had good workouts … although I guess that’ll be confirmed over the next few days Hopefully nobody will be too sore. Same time next week. Maybe we’ll see a few more of you there.
Mary
Hey, already been and gone. I forgot a friend was presenting at lunch, which I wanted to attend. The good news is the water temperature was much warmer today
