So, in the free time I’ve had in between pleading with every God there could possibly be out there that Mitt Romney does not become my next president, I checked my email. I got a note from the dude who organized Course des Morts, and I figured I’d pass it on:

"Hey everyone,

I am putting together a group buy for the 08 style jerseys at

Here is the page that tells you what they look like along with sizing

We can buy long sleeve or short sleeve and we can mix and match colors
to reach price discounts. I am shooting for the 30+ pricing discount.

If we get to 30 jerseys ordered (it shouldn’t be that hard) this is
what the prices will be:
Short Sleeve: 39.50
Long Sleeve: 43.00

if we don’t get to 30 the prices for 12-29 (which we will definitely
get) will be:
Short Sleeve: 52.00
Long Sleeve: 56.00

If I don’t get 12 jersey’s worth of interest…I just won’t order any
because we don’t get anything special.

If you want a jersey I need you to email me tonyinmontreal@gmail.com
with the size, color, and style (longsleeve or shortsleeve) of jersey
you want.

I will be compiling everyone’s orders for three weeks…that means you
have to email me by January 25. Once I get all of the emails as of
January 25…then I will know exactly how many jersey orders we will
have and I can tell you how much you owe me. I need money for these
jerseys within one week after by February 1. I will be placing the
order on February 1 and if you have not given me money…you will not
get a jersey…its as simple as that.

If you start saving now that means you you could get a jersey by
saving less than 1.50 per day or some craziness like that.
These jerseys are ****ing magnificent and thats all I can say…so
here is the summary

the shipping fees will be divided exactly by the number of people that
order jerseys…regardless of how many jerseys you order. ALSO, if we
incur any duty fees it will be divided equally based on the amount of
money you put in to buy the jerseys…so if duty is 10% you will only
pay 10% of whatever you paid for your jersey.

as a side note…we can get custom embroidery or letters but it has to
all say the same thing…im going to throw out that some people get
MONTREAL written on the jerseys…if people want that on their jersey
let me know…if you want something else…you better push it like a
crack dealer so other people want it too…we can only get one
embroidery with this order…so its either one of what many people are
getting or a blank jersey.

They’re really nice jerseys, as you can see, and they’re a great deal on account of the group buy. If you’re still carrying your wool V-Card, and are worried about losing it, check around the internet for some testimonials. It really is a nice material to ride in. I’m buying myself one of the long-sleeve Lefty’s. I told the dude (Tony,) that I’d send him any orders from the McGill crew, so if you decide you want one, say so here, and I’ll pass on the orders to Tony in one bundle to make things easy. i kind of want one of these, i’ve just been taking my time trying to decide what size to get… why are the sleeves so long? mike, have you ever had any of these jerseys? i’m just concerned that it won’t be cycle-able if the sleeves go past my fingertips. think it will be a problem?
either way, don’t place the order till i let you know what my final decision is.

If you come to the spin session on Sunday, you can just pay me then. I’ve emailed Tony asking him how many orders he’s got, counting ours, but he hasn’t gotten back to me yet. Just bring the lowest ($43) amount, and if it turns out it’s going to be more, you can either fork over the extra dough or I can give you your money back.

As for sizing, their website says they’ve got a more “racy” fit this year when compared with last year’s, which were a little bit more “recreationally-sized.” Which is to say, that whereas last year they were made for old fat guys who like wool, this year they’re made more for teenagers and twentysomethings who are looking to try it for the first time. I would order whatever size McGill jersey you got (they’re small by American standards, by the way.) I’m ordering a medium, and seeing’s how our petite Marie Eve is ordering a small, I’d go for a medium if I were you, Victoria, since sleeves that are an inch too long on a bike tend to be better than sleeves that are an inch too short, in my opinion.

Alrighty, so, Tony emailed me back and says that he’s only got fourteen orders as of right now. He also says he’s trying to get some area bike shops in on the deal, which would almost certainly bring us above the 30-order mark. This is most unfortunate.

Anyway, I’ll probably shell out the extra $13 American, but if any of you’s are only looking to buy if he gets the lower price, just let me know. I haven’t sent him the order specifics yet, so there’s no problem if you want out.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Tony got thirty orders, so the low price it is! Consider this the LAST CALL. Victoria and Marie-Eve are in and paid for, Mat and Kevin (it’s you, right?) are in but unpaid. Either opt out now or bring your payments on Sunday. If there are any changes to your order, make them NOW, because after I send the orders to Tony there’s probably no way he’ll be able to change them. I’m going to email Tony right now just to ask him to hold off until Monday, so I can be sure that I have cash for the orders.

Alrighty, I’ve got Victoria and Murrie-Evvv down for Montreal. It’s an extra $3.50, which is pretty negligible in terms of payment (unless you’re really cheap.) We can settle it in beer units.

I will not be buying a jersey. Mike has an extra McGill one for me. If you don’t get this in time and they’re already ordered, I’ll pay up, but I’d rather save the money.
