For those of you who love riding through the mud and riding in the forest in the fall, see below!
Looking at the ECCC schedule there are a couple races that might be good to check out this fall (based on distance to get to the races, and the other events the team’s got going on this fall). We would be driving down Friday after classes, and come back Sunday after the last McGill rider has finished their race.
Sept 13/14: Wild Western Mass MTB Weekend in Hancock, MA (~4 hours away)
Oct 4/5: MIT Sliderule Shredfest in Charlemont, MA (~4.5 hours away).
Typically these weekends include a few different types of races - cross country, short track, and sometimes dual slalom and downhill. The website below has flyers for the races, and more information about the courses, etc.
These races are usually very well organized, and a ton of fun.
For those of you who are planning on racing this fall, you should be wearing a McGill jersey when you race. I checked and it does not need to be the most recent version. If you do not have a jersey yet, I’m sure someone on the team would be willing the lend theirs out for a weekend or 2.
Catamount was a blast, I encourage anyone with a mountain bike to consider coming to Slidrule Shredfest even if you don’t have any racing experience (I certainly didn’t)! The courses were fun and challenging and the atmosphere was super relaxed.
