Spring road conditions

You guys looked pretty boss doing it too. Saw you guys shoot down the hill past the gym.

Street cleaners were out today. It was a delightful sight.

Anyone got a recommendation for a relatively flat 50-60 km ride for tomorrow?

Lakeshore

west island and beyond is amazing. avoid the potholes on south west side of ile perrot though

i tried to do a monte sainte hilaire ride but the JC bridge was locked at the south shore side. there was a staircase that I could have gone done, but fuck that

f1 track is wet as fuck

the entrance from the F1 to the south shore is also locked

sadness

in these difficult times we must content ourselves with protour loops and west island rides…

UNLESS, has anyone gone… NORTH!!!

South side of J-C is going to be blocked for a while, they have issues with stability, so the staircase will be the only way out. They’re eventually going to open it when it dries out more, but they are scheduled for big work on it in July.

monte sainte hilaire has suddenly become a 160k ride

Let’s hope J-C doesn’t become the new Mercier bridge

also, Victoria should open once F1 / estacade officially opens in 2 days, no?

the bike path along the canal has still got some snow covered sections, take the road immediately south of the bike path

lakeshore is terrific

East point of Laval is good.

In case anyone is not aware, the Jacques-Cartier Bridge west side bike path is closed.
You can still use the east side sidewalk, though it’s slower, as I found out yesterday.

It’s scheduled to reopen Aug 5th, and then more work starts on the south shore side August 19th.

To bring you to the south shore? A lot of people commute or just pleasure ride from the Island to the south shore via the estacade plus the small lift bridge across the seaway.

Not spring anymore, but anyways, the estacade will be closed from next Monday until next spring :frowning:

Is the seaway going to stay open?

It doesn’t talk about the seaway, and it’s beacause contractors are driving to the Champlain bridge structure to do work there, so I’d assume it’ll be open, but it’s just a guess.

I believe there’s a shuttle to get across the bridge, so I’m not sure if it’ll be nice riding with possible construction traffic, but that leads me to believe it is open at least in one of the directions, otherwise, what’s the point of the shuttle?

I thought I’d bump this thread since I forgot about the last few posts on my ride today. The Estacade is indeed closed!

The shuttle works fine to get you across with your bike!
